There should be a title page, with your penname, email address, title of story and word count.
After you make a payment and upload your document, send an email confirmation that it was received, to amysbookshelfreviews@gmail.com If you don't want to upload it, you can email it after your payment has been made.
Personally, when I think of short stories, I think of stories are short and have a beginning, middle and end, and when I write, I don't consider word count. Sometimes, I know in my mind that they are flash fiction, novellas or short stories, and not as large as a novel and higher, but that is just MY opinion and how I write my own stories.
So, to be fair to my other judges in this contest, the word count is 10,000 or less. I apologize for any inconvenience to my fellow judges, and the contest will be as what is regarded as a short story, but the themes of sci-fi, horror and/or thriller are still baseline.
Challenge yourself and see if you can do it, even if you don't normally write in one or any of the genres I mentioned. This is supposed to be fun, and a writing challenge. (And to be fair, I don't write in sci-fi at all, maybe thriller and paranormal, so, I will also be challenging myself, and of course, I am not going to enter as this is my contest, but if I'm asking you to do this, I'll do it myself as well, and then later, share my story).
Also, a note: You retain all the rights to your story, so you can publish it yourself. Even if it is a winner, and in the magazine, you still have the rights to it. I would never take anyone's rights away.
Each Story gets a score based on the following: (1-5 for each requirement, 5 being the best)
Short Story Entry Fee $10 per story. Multiple entries and previously published short stories are accepted, if the author has the rights to their story.
(If you are making multiple entries, you can email me, and I can invoice you for the total, or you can do separate emails and payments for each story).
Congratulations to the winners of the Short Story Contest that was held from April to June 30.
