Book Advocate

Amy's Bookshelf Reviews strongly believes that every GOOD book should be read. Every GREAT  book deserves more than one read. Amy believes that all adults should read and know how to read. If you know how to read, use it, read! Children should be taught to read and be read to. Amy also believes that all adults should read more children's books, whether they have children or not. And once you've read a book, write a review for the book, and then, pass it on.

"All Adults should read children's books. You just might learn something. The secret that all children know, and adults forget."

Amy Shannon

"Illiteracy in the United States affects about one in five adults, or 21% of the population [...]. This means that 43 million adults in the U.S. have low literacy skills." -National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)

"The secret of it all, is to write in the gush, the throb, the flood, of the moment – to put things down without deliberation – without worrying about their style – without waiting for a fit time or place. I always worked that way. I took the first scrap of paper, the first doorstep, the first desk,

Alnoor Alnoor- Exodus from Sudan: True-Life Story

Alnoor Alnoor- Exodus from Sudan: True-Life Story

Set against the turbulent sociopolitical landscape of Sudan, from Gafar Numeiri's 1969 coup to the current ongoing war, Exodus from Sudan unfolds as a compelling narrative of personal trials and triumphs amid far-reaching regional unrest. This real-life story is not only a journey of survival but also a reflection on the political forces that have shaped, and often shattered, the lives of millions of Sudanese. A powerful cautionary tale, it warns of the dangers inherent in the shadows of unchecked power and fanaticism, reminding us to beware of the ominous forces of darkness.

Alnoor Alnoor- Exodus from Sudan: True-Life Story

'She, et al.' ventures beyond the boundaries of familiarity, crafting a realm rich with events, characters, and astonishing worlds. The narrative transcends conventional norms, capturing the reader's attention with an evocative shock from the very first pages.

Wrestling with inner demons, confronting social taboos, enduring war, genocide, and navigating sexism and corruption, the heroines defy the odds as the narrative intrigue unfolds, slickly breaking the constraints of time and place and showcasing its own.

With a sharp pen, the author delves into the narrators, prodding them to reveal their inner selves. They sometimes whisper in your ear, and at other times scream to awaken your consciousness and shake your convictions. Their tales are beyond mere desires; they are about what they have to tell you: Join us as we navigate perilous paths toward triumph.

Zola Blue- THIRE-LOS: Demon or Angel

In a galaxy where telepathic bonds and ancient dreams shape destinies, the Mejuar, beings created by the god Thire-Los, navigate a complex world of gods, creatures, and humans. Captain Jonus, a Mejuarian pilot, is gravely injured in a meteor accident. His wounds are tended by a Mejuarian doctor, who envelops him in a Dragonor's healing cocoon, infused with a special paste. Despite his physical pain, Jonus is tormented by guilt over losing the Dragonor's precious mewling nest. The intricate collaboration between Dragonors and Mejuarians holds the potential for profound healing. Jonus clings to the hope that the mewling nests are not lost, but merely misplaced. Pinky and Bracket, two extraordinary pups, exhibit remarkable abilities such as telepathic communication, advanced learning, and healing powers, while their playful antics continue to amaze. Raczis is determined to trace the meteor's path, while Syberias relies on a psychic connection to the mewlings, believing they are alive and thriving. The quest to find the mewlings and their impact on the King and the Mejuarian community remains uncertain.

Zola Blue- THIRE-LOS: Demon or Angel

In 1030 C.E. — When Harald, the second son of King Cnute, returns from fighting the king's enemies in Northern Wales, he expects his life to return to normal. He's surprised when he's granted a large landholding—an idyllic life, far from the power-mongering of King Cnute's court, farming in the Midlands, evening walks with his beloved Selia. It’s a gift they cannot refuse, but the king has other plans for Harald and his wife.

On arriving at their new holding, Ravens Hill, Harald and Selia receive a tepid welcome from tenants—belligerent housecarls; a conniving steward; an uncompromising abbess, bitter at not adding their estate to her abbey lands; a priest with roaming hands; and a grieving daughter of the previous landholder who has entered the nunnery.

Harald and Selia wish to improve the lot of their tenant farmers, but they face obstacles at every turn, and Harald’s generosity is seen as weakness.

Trouble brews when they learn the lands come with an unexpected millstone—an unsolved murder.
